03.White silk tie-dyed kimono with a red arabesque (semi-formal; from the 1950s - 1960s) - arabesque

antique kimono アンティーク 着物

A red arabesque is tie-dyed onto white silk. According to my research, arabesques originated somewhere in West Asia. It is thought that they were transported along the Silk Road in the 5th century, and then brought to Japan from China, along with Buddhism. A pattern like the arabesque offers infinite possibilities for continuous creation. In this light, this kimono with a pattern familiar to people from all of Asia may convey a prayer for the perpetuation of your descendants.
